The School of Computer and Information Sciences along with Mentor Graphics hosted this fall's Computing Day on September 16. The event gives local high school students the opportunity to learn more about the field of computing, the degrees that are offered by our School, as well as jobs that are available once students complete their education.
Well over 100 high school students attended this event to hear from our students, faculty and University staff along with business representatives from Mentor Graphics, Northrop Grumman, CTS, TeleVox, and SSI Group. Larry Lilley, President and CEO of CTS Inc. and USA alumni, gave the keynote address to the entire assemble. His message was simple, "if he can succeed in this field so can they".
High Schools (both public & private) in both Mobile & Baldwin Counties are sent flyers announcing the upcoming Computing Day event. With degrees in Computer Science, Information Systems, & Information Technology the University has a lot to offer students as they leave high school behind and move forward with their education.
Our next Computing Day is scheduled for Spring 2010.
