The Mandelbrot Set
As I said before, the orbit of 0 under Qc(z) is extremely important. In
fact, the set of all c values for which the orbit of 0 does not escape to
infinity is known as the Mandelbrot Set. The Mandelbrot Set is a very
intricate example of a fractal. The set is named after Yale
mathematician, Benoit Mandelbrot. Dr. Mandelbrot played a large part in
the revival of the theory with his computer experiments.
The programs that I have written to draw Julia Sets and the Mandelbrot Set are available for download at source.html.
